Romanian dumplings with various fillings, cooked and served with fat sour cream, how else? We are after all talking about Moldavia, aren’t we? They are prepared as a simple sweet/salty stuffed bread dough, cut in circular shapes and rolled over. These delicious dumplings will make any evening dinner a delight. Again, we can use sweet or salty fillings: sweet or salted cheese, jam, potatoes with smoked meat, minced meat or mushrooms and pickled or fresh cabbage.

Ingredients:
for the dough: 500 g flour, 2 eggs, 2-3 tablespoons of oil, 200 ml water. Our salty recipes’ filling requires: 1 small onion, 2 cups of water, oil and lard for frying, (2 boiled potatoes not too large), optional, 100 g smoked meat (optional), salt and pepper, for serving: 100 g butter and a few tablespoons of fat sour cream, 1 tablespoon of breadcrumbs (optional).
Method of preparation:
2. The potatoes are boiled in salted water, then cleaned and chopped with a mixer. If you do not want to include potatoes in the filling, skip this step and continue with the preparation of the smoked chopped meat mixed with the chopped onions and fried for a few minutes. Then mix the meat in the mixer and pour over the potatoes (if you are using the potatoes). If potatoes are not used, then just stir the meat well and season with salt and pepper.
3. The dumplings will be filled up with the prepared mix mentioned above. In the middle of the dough circle put a teaspoon of meat and potatoes or just the chopped meat, bend in half and seal the edges of the dumplings well.
4. Boil the dumplings in water with salt. When they are boiled, remove them on a plate, add melted butter on top. Serve the dumplings warm, sprinkle with breadcrumbs (optional) and a lot of fat sour cream.
